Welcome to HotHouse
2010 is a hugely exciting time for the arts in Doncaster. The council-led development of Doncaster’s New Performance Venue is moving forward and within a few years the town will benefit from a range of modern performance spaces.
Meanwhile, HotHouse continues to build on its reputation as one of South Yorkshire’s leading festivals with a high quality programme that is both, diverse and, sometimes, a little quirky – but then it is a festival. It has built a strong following locally, but attracts people from all over the country. Its commitment to working in partnership is second to none, and this year we are working with Manchester Camerata, a partnership which we hope to develop up to, and beyond, the opening of the Venue.
You might notice some subtle changes over the coming year as we develop branded strands for world music with Melt, and for comedy with Laugh Out Loud. These are launched in the Festival and will continue through the year. We will also launch a membership scheme and offer wider opportunities for participation and learning. A new development for HotHouse 2010 is After Hours – intimate, free live music events, which will be in the Civic Theatre’s bar and foyer on Friday evenings.
As always, HotHouse offers you the opportunity to see and enjoy the very best mix of theatre, comedy, dance, spoken-word and music from local, regional, national and internationally-known artists, companies and performers.
We’ve got something for everyone – all at extraordinary value for money.
