This year’s HotHouse festival in March was a huge success with more sell out shows then ever before and record attendances across the programme. We’ve been busy promoting and programming year round HotHouse events and activities as well as planning for 2010. More than 400 of you recently enjoyed a mesmerizing night of funky jazz with the incredible Maceo Parker and his band.

And that’s not all. We are thrilled to announce details of this years BARO ZIRO project, a week-long celebration of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller arts and culture launching on Saturday June 13th.

This year’s event takes place in a gypsy circus big top, on the Arts Park next to Doncaster Museum and includes music with Serbian world music stars, KAL, the traveller country music legend, Ambrose Cooper, the wonderful Baro Ziro band in residence Roma Khamoro and the amazing Gipsy.CZ, who fuse traditional Czech Roma music with HipHop.

BARO ZIRO also features a screening of Shane Meadows’ iconic film, King of Gypsies, storytelling with Richard O’Neill, theatre performances, free events for families and visual arts exhibitions at The Point and Cusworth Hall.

We will also soon be announcing this year’s season of Cusworth Concerts in the Park. It’ll be a summer to remember. The Hothouse team.

Tickets are selling fast for the brand new touring production of Brassed Off. Following the premier performances at the Little Theatre, Brassed Off will be touring to five regional venues from March 23rd – Bentley Pavilion, Rossington Welfare, Hatfield Main Club, Bullcroft Memorial Hall and the Ivanhoe Centre. Almost 500 tickets have already been sold with Bentley Pavilion and the Ivanhoe Centre requesting more tickets due to such high demand! So don’t miss out.
