Welcome to HotHouse08
To date over 30,000 of you have enjoyed an astonishingly rich mix of events and performances as part of HotHouse. Well now it's time to feast on three weeks of the very best of the performing arts.
HotHouse08 launched on Saturday March 1st with a day-long programme of some wonderfully wild street arts in locations around the town centre. We've got a cracking little rural touring show, In Search Of Pontiflunk by New Perspectives, and welcome back Reform Theatre with their latest production Albert Nobbs. We've stand-up comedy with award-winning Welsh comic Rhod Gilbert (is there a better way to celebrate St. David's Day?), and the brilliant Stewart Lee, co-writer of the Olivier award-winning 'Jerry Springer - The Opera'.
We have a mini-season of contemporary dance featuring festival favourites New Art Club, with their latest hilarious show - The Visible Men, the powerful and moving Routes by Hype Dance, and a magical fusion of classical and tango with the mesmerizing Tango:Neuvo. There's a very special event featuring artist Jan Flamank's Yarns project that includes an exhibition and poetry by 'Six Women Poets With A Kick' to celebrate International Women's Day. There's Doncaster's first ever Writers and Readers Fair and the wonderful Changing Lives that blends poetry, theatre and music. And you have the chance to write your very own Doncaster Limerick
A special family day at the Point on March 15th will include the enchanting Claytime - A play with Clay for children aged 3-6, the wonderful music and storytelling production of Under African Skies as well as loads of free drop-in workshops. If you like your music, then we've got something for every taste including the welcome return of soloists from Armonico Consort, a stunning big band concert fusing folk, jazz and funk by the superb Bellowhead. We have a very special 150th anniversary concert at The Minster Church of St. George featuring Ensemble 360 and award winning soprano Elizabeth Watts. There's some sublime jazz with the stylish Empirical, some wonderful folk featuring Dave Burland, Les Barker and the cracking Crucible. We have a special Wavelength Records night featuring Hotel Brown, Tiny Little Secrets and Richard Masters. And if all that wasn't enough we have the legendary Joe Brown's 50th anniversary tour and the stunning musicality of cellist Natalie Clein.
And finally, an evening you will always remember, dress to impress as Glastonbury favourites Lost Vagueness get down and dirty in Doncaster.
We've got something for everyone and our ticket prices are great value. Why not buy a limited edition HotHouse Festival Pass, which will allow you access to the whole range of entertainment on offer.
